jQuery input placeholder text script details The "jQuery input placeholder text" plugin works in two ways, depending on the user's browser type and version.
If the user's browser supports the new HTML 5 standard, and more precisely the HTML 5 placeholder attribute, the plugin deactivates itself and does nothing.
If the user has an older, deprecated browser, the plugin acts as a fallback (polyfill, shiv), mimicking the HTML 5 placeholder attribute and adding inline labels to various form field types.
The so-created placeholder text works exactly as the original HTML 5 placeholders, if JS is turned on (of course).
A simple demo is included with the "jQuery input placeholder text" package.
